This is a two part classroom based educational session revolving around the experiences and expectations moms and their partners deal with throughout their prenatal period, labor and delivery and during their immediate and extended recovery from Birth. Pregnancy is a very exciting and anxious time in a woman’s life and being prepared is the best step a mother can take to ensure she has a smooth and fulfilling 9 months. The instructor uses videos and power point presentations to addresses the physiology and anatomy of pregnancy, labor and delivery terminology and stages, what to expect with the unexpected, along with factors to consider when striving for a rewarding parenthood.
Each mother/couple that attends will receive a folder filled with helpful resources. In the folder there are numerous visual aids that include graphs and engaging quizzes that test your mommy-to-be knowledge, and pamphlets describing our obstetrical services, such as pain management options. A magazine endorsed by AWHONN filled with knowledgeable articles to help ensure a healthy pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Also included are handouts regarding nutritional advice, suggestions for prenatal exercises, examples of communication tools to create a birth plan, and warning signs to watch for and report to her physician, plus when you should head to the hospital.
Each mother/couple is provided with a 6 chapter resource book that accompanies the discussion topics called The Gift of Motherhood, an excellent tool for personalizing your journey of parenthood through prenatal preparation and education.
